Inspiration

Everyone deserves an education as it is a basic human right. We strongly believe that children from less fortunate backgrounds deserve a chance to better their lives. We believe that by allowing these children to constantly upgrade their progress, people will be strongly encouraged to help these children as they could clearly see the impact that they are making.

What it does

Giftedu provides a platform for less fortunate children to pursue further education by gathering funds from donators through a seamless application. Giftedu provides a platform where donees may update their achievements to let donators know how the funds have affected the students’ lives positively.

How we built it

We built the website using react and Tailwind CSS for the frontend along with Django for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues with the time constraints. Many of our ideas and features had to be pushed to future implementations. In the end, we still managed to finish the prototype of our app and moving forward, we could still add or improve more features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create a functional website that demonstrates our idea within the allotted time

What we learned

We learned a lot about important issues being faced by the united nation, and how relevant were technologies in solving these issues. We were very inspired by the example projects that were done to solve the 17 issues faced by the UN. We also learned a lot about google technologies through the workshop

What's next for Giftedu

We had a lot of features that could be implemented in the future. We would also like to liaise with learning institutions for transparency and partnership to alleviate the financial burden for less fortunate children.
