Inspiration

Finding the perfect gift for someone special is often stressful and overwhelming. Standard search engines and generic e-commerce sites rely on basic keyword filters, completely missing the emotional connection, personality nuances, and unique vibes of the recipient.

I created Gift DNA—crafted with care by Fardin—to revolutionize gift-giving. By combining empathetic artificial intelligence with an elegant luxury design, Gift DNA analyzes recipient traits, occasion context, and personality vibes to generate deeply personal, thoughtful gift recommendations in seconds.

What it Does

Interactive Gift DNA Finder: A 4-step interactive questionnaire mapping recipient relationship, occasion (Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, Corporate), budget (in Bangladeshi Taka ৳ BDT), and personality vibe.
Gemini AI Recommendation Engine: Generates a structured "Gift DNA Profile" along with 3 tailored gift suggestions, complete with matching reasoning and curated high-resolution photography.
Full-Featured E-Commerce Flow: Includes a responsive Slide-Over Cart Drawer, Direct "Buy Now" quick checkout, and localized pricing in BDT (৳).
bKash Payment Integration: Integrated bKash Send Money checkout flow with real-time 10-digit bKash Transaction ID (TxID) verification and instant digital receipt generation.
Curated Test Collections: Pre-categorized gift hampers across Birthday, Wedding & Romance, Corporate, Artisanal Luxury, Eid & Festive, and Tech Gadgets.

How I Built It

Frontend: React 18 with TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and motion (Framer Motion) for buttery-smooth animations and editorial luxury aesthetics.
Backend: Express.js server running on Node.js proxying requests to Google's @google/genai SDK using the gemini-2.5-flash model.
Database & Persistence: Firebase Firestore for storing orders, customer delivery details, and saved wishlist profiles.
Iconography & Styling: Lucide React icons with a warm neutral editorial palette and responsive typography scales.

Challenges I Faced

Local Payment Alignment: Designing an intuitive bKash checkout experience that allows users to seamlessly paste their bKash Transaction ID (TxID) while automatically calculating delivery rates for Inside and Outside Dhaka.
Reliable AI Parsing: Ensuring Gemini returns strict, reliably structured JSON responses even with fallback keys, while maintaining high speed and fallback handling for zero downtime.
Visual Hierarchy & Image Rendering: Replacing placeholder visuals with rich, high-quality images and fallback error handlers to ensure every product card renders crisply.

What I Learned

How to combine large language models with structured JSON schemas to power emotional, personality-driven product recommendations.
