Inspiration - My mom's birthday was coming up but I had no idea what to give her. I really needed a place where I could describe who she is, what she likes, and get some gift suggestions. I noticed that many other people also had the same challenges. I built Gift-i to help people find gifts for their loved ones.
What it does - Gift-I is your personal gifting helper. Gift-I recommends the perfect gift for your loved ones.
How we built it - I used Lovable, Cursor, and my special love to build Gift-i.
Challenges we ran into - 2 main challenges we faced are : 1. Gathering the right pieces of information to make sure that Gift-i's recommendations are relevant; and 2. Integrating with Amazon, eBay, and other platforms so that we are surfacing the correct information .
Accomplishments that we're proud of - Finding a really good gift for my mom, many friends and family have tried Gift-I and found it useful
What we learned - we learned two things: 1. We had to tweak and find what information we should gather about the person to find a perfect gift for them or to find a relevant gift for them; 2. Integration with Amazon and eBay was also tricky; as we want to make sure that Gift-I provides accurate links to the product listing page on these platforms
What's next for Gift-I - I want to continue to refine Gift-i's frontend and also improve its recommendation engine, including personalization. I also want to add more integration with other platforms like Walmart and Target and show images of the products that it recommends. Last I also want to figure out a monetization strategy and implement it.
