Inspiration ✨
We were inspired by the GHW website website and the regular questions we saw within GHW streams to create an on-theme website to explain some of the key points and questions we see at every GHW.
What it does 📈
The website is a static website which displays some valuable information for participating in Global Hack Week, this consists of how to join the discord and why this is important, resources that can help you through GHW, and prerequisites to keep you prepared 100% of the time!
How we built it 🛠
We utilised our knowledge of HTML, and CSS as well as design to build a website alike to ghw.mlh.io. We then curated our knowledge and placed it within the website content to share it with the world and make it accessible to new hackers.
Challenges we ran into 🏃♂️
We hit a small issue with the navbar not showing fully on mobile devices but we worked through this to attempt to come up with a solution!
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
We are proud to have been able to have formed a team despite not knowing each other earlier in the GHW event - this has been a great accomplishment as it can often be difficult to work with others who we may not have known in this past.
What we learned 🏫
In this challenge we learned to work as a team and to separate the workload between each other. We also learned how to use Replit collaboratively to produce a hackathon project in minimal time! We learned from each other different techniques for front end development and how to build the optimum project for SEO and page-speeds.
What's next for GHW For New Hackers - Website Project ⌛
There is the potential for us to continue developing this site into the future to incorporate more FAQs and to provide additional info to make GHW a more accessible event for beginner hackers.
