Inspiration
During emergencies, internet and cellular networks may become unavailable when communication is most important. We wanted to build a system that could help people stay connected without depending completely on traditional networks.
What it does
GhostGrid is an emergency communication and sensing system designed for situations where normal connectivity is unavailable. It supports SOS alerts, emergency messaging, survivor status, node monitoring, navigation, and alternate routing.
Its Ghost Mode detects unavailable nodes and helps the network adapt by considering alternate routes.
How we built it
We built a web-based emergency command interface with user and admin views, network/node monitoring, survivor tracking, navigation, SOS communication, and an AI assistant.
AI is integrated into the system for emergency coordination, SOS prioritization, node-health analysis, failure prediction, and route optimization.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was combining emergency communication, network monitoring, routing, navigation, and AI capabilities into a simple interface that can be understood quickly during an emergency.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a working prototype that combines resilient communication concepts with AI-powered emergency intelligence in a single system.
What we learned
We learned how AI can be used as part of an emergency communication system to make decisions more adaptive and useful when conventional connectivity becomes unreliable.
