My Roblox Game Project: Ghost Clicker

Inspiration I was inspired by the web series Wednesday, especially its dark, mysterious, and quirky aesthetic. I wanted to bring that vibe into a game world where players could explore a spooky environment and feel immersed in a supernatural setting. The purple and black color scheme reflects the show’s style and gives the game a unique, atmospheric look.

Project Overview I created a clicker-style Roblox game called Ghost Clicker. The main mechanic is simple: players click to spawn objects and earn points or rewards. While I originally planned for ghosts to appear when players click, due to time constraints I replaced them with glowing purple lanterns. These lanterns still match the spooky theme and provide visual feedback for the player’s actions.

How I Built the Game

Game Engine: I used Roblox Studio to develop the game.

3D Modeling: I created all models myself in Blender, including lanterns and environment props.

Scripting: I wrote Lua scripts to handle clicks, spawn objects, and manage interactions.

Theme Design: Purple and black dominate the game to match the Wednesday aesthetic.

Challenges

Time Constraints: I couldn’t add the ghosts with animations, so lanterns were used instead.

Modeling Complexity: Creating detailed 3D models and importing them into Roblox Studio was time-consuming.

Scripting Mechanics: Ensuring lanterns spawned correctly relative to the player and didn’t overlap required careful testing.

What I Learned

I gained experience with Blender modeling and learned how to optimize models for Roblox.

I improved my Lua scripting skills, particularly with events and object spawning.

I learned to adapt my project under time constraints, finding creative solutions to maintain both functionality and theme.

How to Play In Ghost Clicker, players click anywhere on the map to spawn glowing purple lanterns. Each click adds to the environment and gives immediate visual feedback. The goal is to interact with the spooky world and enjoy the mysterious, supernatural atmosphere. Ghosts will be added in future updates, but for now, lanterns provide a fun and immersive experience.
