Inspiration

This project was inspired by the hand-off of information and continuum of care in hospital settings. Problems with the care continuum arise when information is missed or forgotten, unclear or confusing, or not provided in a timely fashion. These problems in patient transfer can cause larger problems for patients and care teams down the road.

Intended Solution

The Google Hospital Integration, [GHI], takes advantage of the accessible Google Assistant and Google Cloud Platform, create a care continuum which better collects relevant patient information.

[GHI] intends to:

  • Flag records for repeated or concerning symptoms
  • Remind staff of important notes or flagged records during patient interactions
  • Document verbal exchanges of information to the electronic records
  • Clarify “unclear” phrases with staff during verbal exchanges

[GHI] uses:

  • Google Cloud Platform (Actions on Google, Dialogflow)
  • Cloud Natural Language API

The complete [GHI] package entails:

  • Mobile Google Assistant, such as a smartwatch or phone
  • Detailed electronic record kept by Google Assistant
  • Google Cloud Support Server
