Inspiration
Traditional Concierge and Hospitality experiences lack discretion, security, and digital personalisation. Cash tipping, Payments, and tab splitting is limiting, insecure, and outdated. Performers, hosts, and club staff often miss out on additional income opportunities. Consumers want more immersive, tech-forward ways to engage, pay, and gift in nightlife settings.
What it does
An exclusive, members-only mobile app that enables:
- Instant digital payments, tipping and gifting to performers and hosts.
- Crypto token payments and blockchain transparency for all in-club transactions.
- Contactless ordering and payment for drinks and services.
- Tiered membership benefits and loyalty rewards.
How we built it
GFTD was born from a desire to stand out in the highly competitive Lagos nightlife scene. Situated beside the renowned Club Zaza, Scarlet emerged as a disruptive force that blended high-tech innovation with cultural luxury. Our team, composed of nightlife experts, blockchain developers, and music industry veterans, saw a unique gap: the lack of secure, digitized, and rewarding interaction in nightlife venues.
With deep connections to A-list artists and music moguls, we designed a platform where fans could request for premium concierge services, seamlessly pay, tip, gift, and interact with performers. We imagined a world where exclusive hospitality experiences extended into digital ecosystems—where your presence earned you status, your engagement earned you rewards, and your moments were celebrated on the blockchain.
We built GFTD not just as a club or app, but as a lifestyle—an ecosystem for nightlife, entertainment and hospitality connoisseurs to engage, gift, and experience luxury at an entirely new level.
Challenges we ran into
Regulatory Uncertainty: Navigating Nigeria’s evolving crypto and digital finance regulations required constant legal consultation.
User Education: Introducing blockchain technology and digital tipping to a traditionally offline nightlife audience took significant onboarding effort. Technology Integration: Ensuring seamless integration of crypto wallets, NFTs, and fiat gateways was technically intensive and required third-party collaboration. Security Concerns: Building a platform that ensured anonymity while securing user data and funds posed a dual challenge. Stakeholder Buy-In: Convincing club owners, artists, and hosts to adopt a new digital system involved trust-building and demonstrations. UX/UI Optimization: Merging luxury aesthetic with user-centric mobile functionality involved multiple iterations and user testing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
✅ Beta-Ready Platform Developed: GFTD App now functional with integrated tipping, ordering, and wallet features. ✅ Blockchain Infrastructure Deployment: Smart contracts tested on testnet with working GFToken (GFT) and NFT access passes. ✅ Strategic Partnerships Secured: Confirmed interest from 5 A-list artists and 3 top-tier Lagos clubs for pilot phase. ✅ First NFT Access Cards Minted: Genesis VIP Club Access NFTs created with whitelist privileges. ✅ Fiat Gateway Integration: Payment gateway API integration tested successfully with Paystack and Moonpay. ✅ User Testing & Feedback: Conducted closed beta onboarding for 50 early testers (hosts, dancers, promoters). ✅ Flagship Club Readied: Physical pilot venue ready for launch activations and app demonstrations.
What we learned
Cultural Integration is Key: Nightlife in Lagos is driven by deep cultural nuance. Blending blockchain innovation with familiar social behaviors ensured higher adoption potential. Simplicity Wins: Users were more inclined to engage when blockchain complexity was abstracted. Simple UX with clear onboarding flow was essential. Trust Drives Usage: Hosts and patrons responded positively to features once they saw transparency and earnings were secure and on-chain. Exclusivity Fuels Engagement: Our invite-only model, NFT access, and celebrity partnerships created social desirability that boosted early sign-ups. Community is Everything: Early testers provided invaluable feedback that shaped our feature set, aesthetic, and product roadmap. Partnerships Create Momentum: Collaborating with artists, club managers, and fintech providers amplified credibility and opened new opportunities.
