Inspiration
What it does
About the Project: getworkdone.today
🌱 What Inspired Me
The idea for getworkdone.today came from a late-night reflection where I asked myself:
"What can I build that truly uplifts people and creates real-world impact?"
In a world where AI is often seen as a job-killer and traditional employment is rigid, I wanted to create something that flips the narrative —
a platform that uses AI to create work opportunities for humans, not replace them.
I realized that there are so many people with diverse skills — from cooking and driving to video editing and tutoring — but no single platform lets them offer all their skills flexibly.
That’s when I envisioned getworkdone.today — a real-time job discovery platform where users can find or offer work across any skill, set their own schedule, and get matched instantly.
It’s like Uber for all jobs, but with AI superpowers and complete freedom of choice.
💡 What I Learned
This project was a deep dive into how to actually assemble a real product — from scratch.
Some of the biggest takeaways for me were:
- Understanding how to build the connection between frontend and backend, and how they communicate via APIs.
- Learning to integrate modern technologies like AI avatar generators, job-matching logic, and skill-based rating systems.
- Discovering just how many freemium AI tools, APIs, and frameworks exist that can accelerate development.
- How MVP-first thinking helps stay focused and ship quickly under time pressure.
🛠️ How I Built It
The project was structured around:
- Frontend: Built using modern no-code/low-code tools integrated with Bolt.new, designed for rapid MVP development and smooth UI/UX workflows.
- Backend & APIs: Integrated with job data APIs like RemoteOK, using webhooks and future-ready structures to handle dynamic job creation and filtering.
- AI Features: Planned integrations with ElevenLabs and Travis AI to generate avatar videos for job seekers, enabling voice-based applications and AI-enhanced storytelling.
- User Roles & Skill System: Users can add multiple skills, set their availability/location, and get matched with relevant job opportunities in real-time.
🚧 Challenges Faced
The biggest challenge for me was handling such a large project as a solo builder.
I underestimated the scale of the backend logic, user flows, and integration layers — especially while trying to implement multiple dynamic user roles and AI features.
Due to time constraints, I decided to focus on building a functional prototype that showcases:
- The core idea
- Key USPs
- And a preview of the ecosystem this product will grow into.
But thanks to this hackathon, I now have the technical and strategic clarity to move forward with full confidence.
🔭 What’s Next
Because of The Elite, I now see this project not just as a hackathon submission —
but as the foundation of a real-world business that I will continue to build and grow.
I’m incredibly grateful for what I’ve learned, the community I’ve connected with, and the creative push this event has given me.
Thank you for the opportunity. This is just the beginning.
Participating in The Elite hackathon has been a powerful experience.
Not only did it challenge me technically, but it also helped me refine the vision I’ve been carrying for a long time.
This is not just a project — it’s a mission.
GetWorkDone.today is the first step toward creating a real-world impact by enabling people to access work, gain skills, and grow freely — all powered by smart technology and human potential.
Thank you for this platform, this momentum, and the spark to keep building.
This is just the beginning.
🔧 How We Built It
- Frontend: Built using Bolt.new for rapid prototyping, with custom UI flows for job seekers and job posters.
- Backend Logic: Designed modular APIs to handle job listings, skill tagging, availability scheduling, and feedback workflows.
- Remote Job Integration: Used the RemoteOK API to pull real-time remote job listings for digital workers.
- AI Avatar Planning: Integrated plans for ElevenLabs voice synthesis and Travis AI avatar generation for job application videos.
- User Skill System: Users can create a multi-skill profile, apply for work by availability and region, and receive individual ratings per skill.
🚧 Challenges We Ran Into
- Managing a large codebase solo: The scope of the project was ambitious, and I underestimated the time required to build, test, and polish multiple user flows.
- Integrating advanced AI tools: Setting up avatar-based AI profiles and voice synthesis required planning, API key access, and modular design thinking — which needed more time than available.
- Time Constraints: Because of the size of the backend logic and frontend integration, I chose to focus only on building a functional MVP prototype instead of the full system.
- Balancing technical ambition with UI clarity: Making the user journey intuitive while building a system this flexible was a constant balancing act.
🏆 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
- Turning a large-scale, impact-driven idea into a real prototype under time pressure.
- Designing a job-matching logic that respects human flexibility — allowing one person to apply for multiple job types based on multiple skills.
- Building a system that reflects the future of work: real-time, multi-skilled, AI-assisted, and location-aware.
- Creating a platform vision that doesn’t just “find jobs,” but helps people build ladders to level up in life and career.
📚 What We Learned
- How to structure a full-stack application using modern tools like Bolt.new and REST APIs efficiently.
- The importance of keeping an MVP-focused mindset to avoid overengineering and scope creep.
- Discovered several AI platforms, API providers, and tools that can seamlessly plug into job marketplaces.
- Learned to think in terms of modular system design and scalable workflows — especially around feedback, matching, and onboarding logic.
🚀 What's Next for GetWorkDone.today
- Finalize integrations with ElevenLabs and Travis AI to enable avatar video pitches for every skill a user lists.
- Launch task-based gig discovery with hyperlocal GPS filters — from "drive me home now" to "need a cook this evening".
- Build a job creator dashboard with tools to create tasks, set rates, and upload custom upskilling modules.
- Release a mobile-first version of the platform for maximum accessibility in Tier 2/3 cities.
- Create a trust system using skill-based ratings, reviews, and verified profile layers.
- Long-term goal: Build a human-first, AI-assisted workforce ecosystem that works across all industries — physical, digital, creative, and everything in between.
