Inspiration

Email sucks. It never stops, it's impossible to manage, it's stressful, and it is essential to be a functioning member of society.

What it does

GetSh*tDoneBuddy reads all your email so you don't have to, decides if there's anything you need to do, and produces a list of tasks in priority order for you to tackle.

How we built it

We're using ChatGPT API and Zapier to generate tasks from email messages. We composed a prompt that reads emails, determines the category, urgency, due date and suggests ways to resolve. Our web app can fetch new tasks via Zapier. Our web app is vanilla javascript. Our backend is on Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Many great ideas but being constrained by time forced us to prioritize the use flow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We started with nothing and have an app that members of the team plan to use in real life. No front end libraries were built. Leveraged AI.

What we learned

What working on a team is like to accomplish a goal. How to prioritize to the essential flow. Learned from diverse areas of expertise.

What's next for GetSh*tDoneBuddy

Make it work with any email address, currently it's hardcoded to the email address we were using. Some team members plan to use this in their day to day. We'd love to continue working on this time and resource permitting. Unconstrained we would build additional functionality to improve the reliability and user experience.
