Inspiration
The inspiration for creating a strong and well-thought-out onboarding process is to avoid the negative consequences that can come from a poor onboarding process, such as high turnover rates, poor working relationships, inadequate training, and poor performance. The goal is to create a positive employee experience that leads to a happier and higher-performing organization. Specific opportunities for exploration include finding ways to welcome new interns in a remote way, measuring intern happiness, and finding ways for managers to gauge the level of happiness among interns.
What it does?
Our onboarding solution aims to improve the employee experience by addressing the issues that can arise from a poor onboarding process. We tried to address some of the issues like getting access of proper resources, knowing the teams in the organization, etc. by create an online portal.
How we built it?
We use Figma Tool for creating the prototype of an web-application.
Challenges we ran into
We were completely unfamilier with the Figma tool.
Understanding the interface: Figma has a unique interface that may take some time to get used to.
Collaboration features: Figma is a collaborative design tool, so understanding how to work with others in real-time was challenging.
Learning the design process: Figma is a powerful design tool that requires some understanding of design principles and processes.
Lack of Support to export to Code : We tried to export the code in React but we were unable to do it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of following achievements
- Successfully created a working prototype that extends the functionality of GSoft's SoftStart portal within the given time frame
- Creating a functional prototype or MVP (minimum viable product) of the project
- Collaborating effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds.
- Gaining valuable experience and feedback from industry experts and mentors
- Networked and made new contacts.
- Gained new perspective on a problem or industry.
What we learned
We learned following things from the hackathon:
- Time management and how to effectively prioritize tasks within a limited time frame
- How to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse individuals
- How to develop a functional prototype or MVP (minimum viable product) of a project
- How to think creatively and come up with new solutions to problems
- How to handle pressure and work under tight deadlines
- How to network and make new contacts in the industry
- How to build a team and work together.
- How to learn quickly and efficiently in a dynamic environment.
What's next for GetSetStart
The next step is to implement the solution using the front-end frameworks like ReactJS, NextJS, etc.
