Inspiration

It's very annoying to search multiple services, one at a time, for something to watch. Wouldn't it be awesome to search them all at once, from the comfort of your phone?

What it does

Query's the OMDB API to find movies and loads the data into the app. It was planned to query Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

How we built it

We used React Native. Puppeteer was in use for Amazon, but was scrapped for the Hackathon deadline.

Challenges we ran into

There isn't a free and suitable API to query Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon. We were building an API for Amazon Prime that wasn't finished in time. React Native has some quirks and differences for property names. Publishing to Android proved to be tricky.

What we learned

Learned a ton about React Native, Puppeteer, and JSDOM.

What's next for GetHub

1. Current deployment to Android has issues with the input box visibility and sometimes crashes.
2. Working on the API to get the correct info from Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu.
