There are very many cars on the road today, and no matter how much money you have, EVERYONE wants to save money. Especially high school students that have recently acquired their licences, and don't want to spend all their money on gas. This app could be very useful to them by finding the nearest gas station for the cheapest gas.
The GetGas App helps you by giving you information on local gas stations near you. For example, it gives you the address of the station, the hours they are open, the prices of gas, and any other amenities at that particular gas station.
I built this app with MIT App Inventor 2.
I ran into many challenges while creating this app because it was the first app I have ever created. One particular problem I had was learning how to program the app to getting it to go to a certain screen when one button is clicked. Another challenge was getting the horizontal arrangement button to work, because if you don't use it right it takes what you put in it and it shrinks and doesn't come back. But after working with it for a while, I figured out how to put two images next to each other.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of are first of all learning how to build and program an app, but I am also proud that I made an app that could be very useful to many people.
I learned how to make different functions do certain things and I learned what most of the buttons do and how to use them.
With more work and time, GetGas could spread through the whole state and then the entire country and it could hit every gas station. That is the ultimate goal, for GetGas to be usable by everyone in the nation.
