Inspiration: the thought of "What if we gamified career development? What if every event you attend, every connection you make, earned you tangible progress?"
We were inspired by:
The success of fitness apps that reward consistent activity
Gaming mechanics that keep users engaged through points and achievements
The reality that showing up consistently is often more valuable than credentials alone
Get Up & Go was designed to solve this behavioral challenge: turning passive awareness into active participation.
What it does: Its mainly a one stop solution for people trying to network and grow professionally or looking to get job. It works on reward system where you get reward for the events attended. It also gives a roadmap which act as guidance for jobseekers and it also has ATS friendly resume builder. It has alot of other features to streamline your efforts and actions.
How we built it: We build in PHP Laravel framework so frontend and backend is in same place. For database we selected MySQL and hosted local host. With collaborative effort we were able to cover most of our ideas in one software.
Challenges we ran into: First was finding solution that we both connect with. Secondly selecting code stack and dividing tasks. Last was to finish and sort all bugs in time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We accomplish to create a solution that is scalable, income-generating and bringing youth together to network for better future. It not only helps to network, as it also bring people with similar interests together so it helps to reduce stress and give sense of belongingness.
What we learned: Team work because we both literally didn't knew each other and getting together and finding creative solution. Also we learned how to divide tasks and bring the thoughts to reality.
What's next for Get Up & Go: Create more User roles like Admin, Mentor, Volunteer, Organizer, Participants. and pitch idea to potential parties like event Organizer like eventbrite and Staffing Organizers.
