Get To Class!

The thing I miss the most from my day to day college life since the pandemic has been walking to class. We've created a simulator for this where you can interact with other students online.

Inspiration

I wanted to make my day to day online college life a little bit better. I thought of what I missed the most.

What it does

Allows users to choose from multiple avatars, walk around a campus, and chat with each other.

How we built it

Using HTML and JavaScript as well as Node.js.

Challenges we ran into

Learning web development as well as latency issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Klara's first webpage, the 8-bit graphics including the goofy walking animation, finding a panoramic photo of campus and looping it as the background.

What we learned

Lots of new web development, Node.js, working as a team.

What's next for Get To Class!

Ability for avatars to jump maybe run. Virginia Tech student verified log in. 15 minute periods marked between classes, and other sounds like campus bells. More customization of the avatars. Reporting system for hateful speech.
