My solution will work with landline phones that have answering machines. It works 100% of the time(except when power is out) and has been working on my landline for one year now. Simple and easy to use, just set the answering machine to 2 rings, let it answer with your message "you have reached #%&, please start you message and i will pick up, if this is a robocall hang up" Most robocalls hang up automatically, others that do not, just delete those without listening to them.

This changes the robocall challenge campaign into one of "get out the message" campaign. When people call the FTC and complain about robo calls, just give them these tips. I have found that it is actually more convenient to have call screening this way and your friends will realize that you are doing your part to put an end to robocalls!

Mobile phones would require cell answering service to do the same type of message . Smart phones should be smart enough to figure this out someway.
Screening calls will allow those who want robocalls to receive them and those who do not want them to ignore them.

I feel this solution is not the type you are looking for, but it meets the criteria of what is wanted. We are bombarded by unwanted spam, junk-mail, radio and tv ads. In order to rid ourselves of these, we must filter them out some way with some small effort. Should no one come up with a better solution (like a gizmo to be bought) for landline phones please consider this one.
