TrashTag turns the mundane task of trash collection into a competitive activity. Users receive points for taking pictures of trash. Pictures taken in areas labelled as high trash areas receive a points multiplier 3x, medium areas are 2x and low density areas are 1x. Taking a picture at an area drops a pin, which is intended to represent trash collecting activity in the region. We used the and ExpoGo libraries in our project. ExpoGo allows us to locally deploy the app for testing on our cellphones. React handles the HTML/CSS and all UI elements. We also interacted with the Apple Maps API to get our location information and also to pinpoint areas of interest for trash collection.
