Inspiration

The inspiration for GeoHunt came from my love of the Pirate of the Caribbean franchise and the idea of treasure hunting. I wanted to create a fun and interactive way for people to explore their city and discover hidden treasures.

What it does

GeoHunt is an android application that allows users to use geospatial API to localize a treasure tagged in a city location with a hint that can be a riddle or puzzle. The user can then solve the hint and find the treasure.

How we built it

I built GeoHunt using Android Studio and the geospatial api, ARCore.

Challenges we ran into

I only had 24 hours to work on the project on the weekend :) as I found out about the competition the day before the submission deadline. I faced difficulties importing 3D objects without baked textures and I am not a 3D modeling expert which made importing animated 3D objects challenging. I also realized that Unity would have been a better solution for building interactive games or puzzles as I lack the required expertise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to complete the project within 24 hours and create a functional and interactive app.

What we learned

I learned about the importance of user interface design, 3D modelling tools and the challenges that come with working with geospatial data.

What's next for GeoHunt

In the future, I plan to add an API to share the hints created and show contests by city. I also want to add more features such as the ability to compete with other users to see who can find the most treasures.
