Inspiration

Our climate is changing but are we? Heat waves, bushfires, air pollution, floods, severe storms, loss of species, hunger etc keep me thinking of the future and how to proactively mitigate these rather than being reactive to these conditions.

An example is, that the economic loss from environmental risks in Ghana is substantial. For instance, air pollution costs approximately 4.2% of GDP, while water pollution accounts for about 3% of GDP, leading to early deaths and health issues. Climate risks could cause damages worth $3.9 billion in the transport sector by 2050.In contrast, maintaining the geo-AMER system, which could significantly reduce these risks through proactive monitoring and alerts, represents a fraction of these losses. Investing in geo-AMER not only addresses immediate environmental concerns but also prevents the far greater economic and human costs associated with disasters.

What it does

The web App, geoAmer(Geo spatial technology to Assess and Monitor Environmental Risks.) informs the public on climate issues and how to care for the environment, it will make use of a transmitting and a stationed receiving sensor and API to collage climate data ( air, seismic, water, fires, deforestation) and any activities contributing to the adverse effects of our climate. Notifications, articles/ videos on climate, and a dashboard to visualize data readings.

These collated data are analyzed and visualized in the web app for monitoring air pollution, seismic readings, bush fires and other natural and human activities known to affect the climate.

How we built it

We used Figma to design the user interface, Adobe Aero(Google's geo spatial creator) and Cesium for the geo-spatial images and did some presentations using invideoAI after researching climate change and its adverse effects in our communities and the globe.

Challenges we ran into

The design was a challenge since we had lots of ideas and didn't know which to start with but, we settled on the very important ones air pollution and seismic, human activities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

At least, we have a prototype that can be actualized with the necessary stakeholders.

What we learned

Life is better when we care for everything nature presents to us.

Looking into researching more and implementing our design and making good use of invideoAI to create explainer video on climate change
