Inspiration

Music is the excuse. People are the point. Rigo and I first sketched Genzi in Madrid: every social app treats music as something you post about, but the best nights out start with finding the right event and the right people to go with.

What it does

Genzi is a social app built around music:

  • A live map of music events and the people around you who are into the same scenes.
  • Events and communities you can create, join and invite friends to.
  • Real-time group chats for every event and community.
  • A feed and music profiles ("Currently into" artists, "On repeat" songs) so people connect over taste, not looks.

How we built it

A cross-platform React Native app built with Expo, shipped to the App Store, with real-time chat, location-based event discovery and a map-first navigation.

Results

  • Launched on the App Store in early 2026 and reached top 5 on Product Hunt on launch day.
  • 500+ downloads so far, with growth driven by TikTok content, events and creator outreach in Madrid and Latin America.

Business model

The core map stays free for everyone. Promoters pay a subscription to list and boost their events, which also seeds the map with events in each city. Creator codes with a commission per referred user are the main acquisition channel.

Challenges

The classic cold start of any social map: a new user's city has to feel alive on day one. Bringing promoters on board is our answer, adding events to every city before users arrive.

What's next

Promoter subscriptions, a city-by-city launch playbook, and an Android release.
