Inspiration

In a busy life, keeping the home organized is always a low priority item. Keeping a decluttered home makes it inviting and enjoyable. The GenMari project was inspired by decluttering and organizing projects.

What it does

The web app allows a user to upload an image of a room that requires decluttering. After verification that the image is a room that needs decluttering, the app lists the items in the room. The next step is to list storage solutions for the room. The final step is visualization of the decluttered room.

How we built it

Using Google AI Studio, a react app was developed which uses Gemini API. It functions as a SPA. There is no login required to use it.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring the image meets the cluttered room scenario was a big challenge. Otherwise the declutter image generator using nano banana, removed essential objects from the decluttered room.

In a large number of users, API key management is required.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The app helps in visualizing a solution to a common problem. This leads people to have a peaceful life in their home.

What we learned

Using Gemini AI studio is very helpful to generate usable code.

What's next for GenMari

Developing mobile apps and including ecommerce allowing users to buy storage solutions that they like. Integrating with new storage solutions.
