Inspiration

We built Genki because managing your health often means juggling multiple apps. Weight tracking, calories, fasting, hydration, nutrition, and journaling are typically scattered across different experiences.

We wanted to build one simple health companion that brings these everyday wellness activities together and makes staying healthy easier to maintain.

What it does

Genki is an all-in-one health companion that helps users track weight, calories, fasting, hydration, nutrition, and daily progress in one place.

We’re also using A.I. to reduce the effort required to track health. Users can analyze food from photos, get personalized insights, and use intelligent tools to better understand their progress and build healthier habits.

How we built it

We built Genki for both iOS and Android with a mobile-first approach focused on simplicity and fast daily interactions.

The product combines traditional health tracking with A.I.-powered features, including food analysis, personalized insights, and intelligent progress tracking. We designed the experience around a simple principle: logging your health should take seconds, not become another chore.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was adding powerful functionality without making Genki feel complicated or overwhelming.

We also had to solve challenges around nutrition data, A.I. accuracy, user privacy, and maintaining a consistent experience across iOS and Android.

Getting the product through both App Store and Google Play review processes was another major part of the journey. We successfully launched the core product on both platforms, while our next generation of A.I. features is currently in production.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

We’re proud to have launched Genki Health Companion on both iOS and Android and reached 100K+ Android downloads in just three months.

Genki now includes multiple health trackers, A.I.-powered features, barcode scanning for food and macronutrient tracking, progress visualizations, and support for 12 languages, allowing us to serve users around the world.

We’ve also validated initial market demand and are now focused on turning that traction into a sustainable business. We chose RevenueCat to help us launch and optimize subscriptions, making this Ship-a-ton an opportunity to build on an already-growing product and user base.

Today, Genki generates revenue through ads and subscriptions on Android, with both monetization channels expanding to iOS.

What we learned

We learned that simplicity matters more than simply adding more features.

People want health tracking to be fast, intuitive, and useful enough to become part of their daily routine. We also learned that A.I. is most valuable when it removes friction—automating tasks, reducing manual entry, and turning data into useful insights—rather than adding another layer of complexity.

What's next for Genki Health Companion

Our next goal is to make Genki significantly more personalized and intelligent.

We’re working toward better A.I. health insights, smarter food tracking, voice logging, cloud backup, wearable integrations, expanded international language support, and more personalized recommendations.

A major part of our vision is the A.I. Companion: an intelligent companion that understands a user's goals and progress, helps them stay accountable, identifies patterns, and motivates them throughout their health journey.

Ultimately, we want Genki to evolve from a collection of health trackers into a true personal health companion that helps people understand, improve, and sustain their health every day.
