We want to provide the community with a simple way to help keep the environment clean and bring those interested, together through community hosted events.
What it does
Events are created and hosted by users, who attend events and gain points. All users can be hosts, volunteers, or both! The home page hosts a map that is populated with events. All a user has to do is log in and add themselves to any event.
How we built it
The back-end server uses Node JS and Express, taking in JSON files and executing the appropriate action onto the database. Front-end is built on React JS, while also implementing Google-Maps-API.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up the database for the front end developers Learning how the front-end and back-end of web applications interact Learning how to create single page applications with react and storing all the state information in a single place (Redux)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Implementing Google Maps Getting and posting data to the local server Routing components together in React
What we learned
Lots of React Node Express
