Inspiration
Having in mind that chemistry is not an easy subject to learn, we were inspired by many awesome foundation out there which help us learn topics that can be very challenging. (for example: Khan academy etc. AP Chemistry was by far the hardest subject Sahana took in school, and she wanted to build a free resource that could help students like me gain access to free and adaptive chemistry help, and we also wanted to support that.
What it does
It provides a personalized, adaptive learning experience to its users. It helps students identify their weaknesses, practice key concepts, and receive tailored recommendations to improve their understanding of complex chemistry topics.
How we built it
Using Python, Streamlit, and the Hugging Face dataset
Challenges we ran into
Converting data set to usable CSV form was something that did take a bit longer than others and of course making sure we didn't miss anything while explaining our project on the slideshow was tricky as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were successfully able to work as a team and go through challenges together rather than having one person do everything. We are proud to present our creativity and though process behind our work done today
What we learned
One key thing we learned today is that team work makes our work done way quicker and more efficient. Solving deployment errors and knowing importance of finding good data
What's next for Genesis: College Chemistry Study App
Add support for related subjects to make the app versatile for students. Incorporate deeper insights, such as time spent on each question and success rates by topic Translate the app into multiple languages to make it accessible to a broader audience Add features like text-to-speech, high-contrast modes, and keyboard navigation for users with disabilities.
