Generative art

Generative AI is an excellent tool for enhancing one's creativity and providing new ideas. In this project, I used Bing Image Creator to mix two topics: "hacking" and "Borderlands 2".

Inspiration

I have been playing Borderlands 2 for a while. I like its humour and its tone. As a teacher, I implemented some elements of the story in my gamified math classroom. When working on this project, I decided to use the theme again and mix it with hacking this time.

What it does

This is just a fanfick that aims to combine two themes in one image.

How we built it

Bing Image Creator was provided with several prompts to generate an image of a hacker who reached Nirvana. Used prompts, in order:

  • Generate a picture of a person who does coding. This person is in front of his computer and has just reached Nirvana
  • Generate a picture of a person who does coding. This person is in front of his computer and has just reached Nirvana. Use Borderlands 2 style for the image
  • Generate a picture of a hacker who has just achieved Nirvana. Use Borderlands 2 style for the picture.
  • Generate a picture of a hacker who has just achieved Nirvana. Use cell shading for the style of the picture
  • Generate a picture of a hacker who has just achieved Nirvana. Use cell shading for the style of the picture
  • Generate a picture of a hacker who has just achieved Nirvana. Show him in front of this laptop from the side perspective. Use Borderlands 2 style for the picture.

For the submission, I chose one picture from each prompt.

Challenges we ran into

Some pictures did not follow the style, so I had to rephrase and rerun the prompts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Almost all options from the fourth prompt were very close in style to Borderlands. Two pictures looked like the cover for Borderlands 3.

What we learned

The prompts for generative AI should be precise but not too long, otherwise some details get lost.

What's next for Generative art

I am thinking about how I could implement generative AI in my math classes. I try to gamify my class and turn it into an RPG-style game. Generative AI can help me generate content, especially images for items and cards for the players.
