Gen Z Slang Lifespan Explorer started from a simple frustration: by the time most people finally understand a new slang term, Gen Z has already moved on to the next one. The project set out to answer a playful but serious question: can slang lifecycles be measured, modeled, and even predicted the same way product lifecycles or stock prices are?
To do that, the app brings nearly 1,800 slang terms into a single, structured dataset, enriching each term with features like first appearance, peak, time‑to‑peak, lifespan, sentiment, category, and primary platform. On top of that, it builds tens of thousands of synthetic time‑series points that show weekly usage across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, mimicking how language actually spikes and fades across platforms.
