Starfleet aCADemy is an in-browser, touchless 3D modeling tool that lets you design CAD models using only your hands and a standard webcam.

Traditional CAD software requires steep learning curves, dense keyboard shortcuts, and complex mouse navigation. We built Starfleet aCADemy to make spatial creation feel direct and physical. By pairing client-side computer vision with a real-time 3D viewport, you can draw primitive footprints, pull to extrude dimensions, and manipulate objects right in thin air.

How It Works

  • Real-Time Hand Tracking: Uses MediaPipe directly in the browser to track 21 hand landmarks at high frame rates with zero server latency.
  • Deterministic Gestures: Intuitive poses mapped to CAD primitives—dual-pinch to define footprints, edge-pulls to dimension height and width, and fist/palm gestures to position and orient meshes.
  • AR Mirror View: An augmented reality overlay projects the 3D ground plane and translucent ghost meshes onto your live webcam feed, giving you direct spatial alignment as you manipulate objects.
  • One-Click 3D Export: Ready-to-print models export directly to standard .stl files for immediate 3D printing.
