Gemnai Ai Game master Edition 5

Inspiration

Wanted to create a program that was something I wanted to have conveniently for myself. And creating a game partner for a lonely dnd experience, is something I would've wanted.

What it does

The front end, built with React, provides players with an interactive interface that displays the story context and game information for their role-playing session. Players can input their actions or trigger dice rolls, which are sent to the backend for processing. The backend, powered by the Gemini AI model acting as a Dungeon Master, interprets the player’s input in context and dynamically continues the narrative improvising story events, challenges, and outcomes based on the evolving adventure.

How I built it

Using a React front end, and having a back end in Python and a Gemnai API with flask.

Challenges we ran into

Incorporating the api of Gemini was originally going to be in relation to java script, and after struggles to even just have it all within a React page. Had to scrap the project, to reset to restructure it into a python back end. And minimize the scope as originally there was going to be a postgresql and docker, to save the past experiences for each player's unique experiences.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Creating Components, and relearning how to make a application from scratch.

What I learned

That even though I felt confidence in building a "simple application" from scratch, I'm still inexperienced even after what I built in the summer. And would next time work in a team and The next steps focus on refining both functionality and user experience. I plan to improve the connection between the front end and back end for smoother communication and performance. The user interface will be redesigned to be cleaner, simpler, and more immersive for D&D roleplay. Future updates will include: Login and user profiles to save unique campaign progress and past adventures. Persistent character sheets and databases for personalized prompts and continuity. Enhanced storytelling depth, allowing Gemini AI to generate more detailed, context-aware narratives. Web deployment, making the experience easily accessible online.
