Inspiration
The inspiration for this project was a typical online AI study tool, however tailored for simple use by people with learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia.
What it does
It gives three escalating options for detail of study for a page of a textbook or notes and formats the data to be effectively understood visually.
How we built it
I built it utilizing VS Code as the IDE Environment with Dart and Flutter as the framework, Gemini 2.0 Flash was integrated via Google AI Studio. Gemini was used to decode the image and the framework organized the UI and prompts to Gemini for complexity.
Challenges we ran into
The UI of the app continually ran into parser errors and formatting issues that took a lot of time to debug and correct.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The complexity scaling is something I am proud of because it encourages people to learn regardless of the energy that they have on any given day.
What we learned
I learned that being extremely specific with AI instructions was key to avoid any errors, the issues we encountered could have been mitigated by more careful prompt engineering.
What's next for Gemini Vision for Inclusive Learning
Building a history feature using a local database so that students are able to reference past study materials and an audio feature to read over the notes.
