Inspiration Currently, I am enrolled in a Japanese course at my university called the FO Japanese Course. I thought it would be exciting to create a Japanese translator powered by AI to complement my studies.
What It Does The translator utilizes the Gemini API to convert Japanese words or sentences into Romaji (alphabetical representation) and provides English translations.
How We Built It We developed the application using Gemini AI, Vite, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. The project is deployed on AWS Amplify.
Challenges We Faced One of the main challenges was ensuring the accuracy of the output, especially in differentiating between Japanese and other languages.
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of We’re proud that the translator can accurately translate sentences and distinguish between Japanese and other languages.
What We Learned We gained valuable insights into tuning the AI to ensure it produces structured and reliable output.
What’s Next for Gemini Japanese Translator Our next goal is to enhance the translator's capabilities by enabling it to translate text from images and using databases for history.
