Inspiration

The inspiration behind our project stems from the profound impact freestyle rap has had in the Hispanic world. Witnessing how it provided a platform for artists to express themselves authentically, rise above adversity, and achieve success ignited our passion to create a tool that could empower aspiring rappers on their journey to greatness.

What it does

Our project, GEminem, is an AI-powered platform designed to train users in freestyle rap battles. It offers two modes: Practice and Battle. In Practice mode, users receive words or concepts as inspiration for their verses, fostering creativity and skill development. In Battle mode, the AI serves as a formidable opponent, engaging users in dynamic rap battles to enhance their lyrical prowess and confidence.

How we built it

We built GEminem using Gemini tools for agents, leveraging the capabilities of Vertex AI. Our team collaborated closely to customize the tools and create an engaging user experience. Through iterative development we ensured the platform's functionality and performance met the needs of our users.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was customizing the Gemini tools while navigating the complexity of Vertex AI agents. We encountered difficulty in understanding the exact prompts sent to Gemini, hindering our ability to customize the platform's responses effectively. Overcoming this challenge required meticulous experimentation and collaboration to decipher the underlying processes and optimize our implementation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have developed GEminem—a powerful tool that empowers users to unleash their creativity and hone their freestyle rap skills. Our platform offers a unique and immersive experience, providing aspiring rappers with the resources they need to succeed in the competitive world of hip-hop.

Throughout the development process, we gained valuable insights into the intricacies of AI-powered platforms and the importance of customization in optimizing user experience. We learned how to leverage Gemini tools effectively, adapt to evolving requirements, and overcome technical hurdles to deliver a high-quality product.

What's next for GEminem

Looking ahead, we plan to further enhance GEminem's capabilities by adding voice mode which is central for this tool to succeed and add more practice modes, there are a lot of modalities in freestyle battles that intend to boost people's creativity and it is the logical next step to add all those modalities
