Inspiration

Gem Scavenger was inspired by hugely popular mobile apps where you collect items, find a depositing space to duplicate many of the item, simple fun.

What it does

Gem Scavenger allows a player to search the local terrain and find gems, having the need to take them home to save those gems. Once returned your collected gems will rise. if you collect 10 in one session, a magical portal will appear allowing constant duplication of a gem (if you have one in hand!) for 60 seconds before de-spawning.

How we built it

Scripted using a mix of codeblocks and newly learnt Typescript, we were able to change camera angles and poses. Multiple managers for players, gems, session collected and levels are used.

Challenges we ran into

Time was a huge challenge, while trying to run one of HWs most popular 18+ worlds, helping other creators and struggling with some sickness, getting this done was hard work!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is pretty much my first game world and enjoyed every moment. Starting my jorney on typescript and trimesh. Trimesh is so exciting and brings a whole new look to this world.

What we learned

Ive learned some Trimesh and typescript in the building of this world. Some mobile actions and poses. Along with using flowcharts to plan out a game loop.

What's next for Gem Scavenger

Gem Scavenger will evolve, with enemies who will take your gems if you didn't store them yet and more tools to find hidden, rare gems!
