Geetmala

Inspiration

This project was inspired by the Saregama Carvaan, which is a popular music playing device for old bollywood music. People often gift it to the elderly so they can enjoy some old tunes. We wanted to make an online version of this so people could use it for free.

What it does

Your one-stop jukebox to listen to your favourite bollywood hits from the past! An app that lets you browse through different themes to listen to a variety of songs, all in one convenient place! No need to spend thousands of rupees on a physical Carvaan device, because Geetmala has you covered!

Great for the eldery who have trouble navigating Youtube, all songs can be accessed with the click of a single button!

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS and Javascript to build this website. We used Netlify to host it.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time trying out web development and hence, it was difficult to complete the project in less than 48 hours. It was challenging to learn a new tech stack in a short span of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our website has a really nice UI and is easy to use. We are proud of making a fully functional website in just over a day.

What we learned

We learned how to use HTML to design a website's structure, CSS to style it and Javascript to add functionality. We also learnt how to host our website on Netlify.

What's next for Geetmala

We want to connect it to Youtube so that users can access even more music. We want to add more themes to our website and display more information about the song which is playing. We also want to add extra sound dials that allow users to have rain, ocean sounds or white noise in the background.
