Our Chrome Extension was inspired by the simplification efforts here at GE Transportation. What if we could take a few of the must popular engineering tools used here at GE and tie all their functionalities into a single extension? By making these tools accessible to engineers everywhere in their browser experience, we hope to increase information availability and efficiency!
One installation is all it takes to get started. With the beta version of GE Tabs installed on your computer, you'll find that every new tab you open up now has a redesigned display featuring the GE Belief Values and a few other important pieces of information.
You'll also have direct access to the Drawing Retrieval Search tab, a new and fast way of searching the Drawing Retrieval System for the schematic you need. Navigate up to the search bar, type in 'drs' and hit Tab, and you're in! You can type in specific drawings to perform a spot search or type a '?' after your drawing to see where the part is used. You can even search multiple drawings by separating individual drawing numbers with commas. There's plenty of functionality already implemented and much more to come!
As we work towards the full release of GE Tabs, we hope to add the following additional functionality: -Revised new tab format: more information at your fingertips! Integration with Microsoft Outlook will allow us to show you exactly how your schedule is looking. -Additional DRS Searching: more ways to search! We'll be adding wild character searches and other useful ways to sort your drawings and schematics. -Form Tracking: with FormCentral integration, we can show you exactly where your requests are on the approval ladder!
