GDUM – The Courage Gym

Inspiration: Students come to college to grow independent, yet hesitation and fear hold them back. Courage is the one skill you can’t buy, but it’s essential for leadership, equality, and success.

What it does: GDUM trains courage like a muscle. Daily challenges push students to speak up, negotiate, or confess fears. An AI Courage Coach delivers savage pep talks and simulates tough scenarios like interviews or stage speaking. Progress is tracked through a Dum Meter, with badges and leaderboards celebrating bold acts.

How we built it: Using NLP for pep talks, ML models for scenario simulations, and gamified dashboards, GDUM blends tech with humor and social impact.

Challenges: Measuring courage fairly, balancing humor with motivation, and ensuring inclusivity across genders and backgrounds.

Accomplishments: Created the first “courage gym” app, designed Dum Meter to visualize guts, and built a community that rewards bravery, not just grades.

What we learned: Courage grows through small daily wins, humor makes fear‑facing addictive, and independence is the bridge to equality.

What’s next: Expand challenges globally, integrate AR/VR crowd training, and scale GDUM into a youth movement: “Because courage is the only flex you can’t buy.”
