Inspiration
We were inspired by the need to determine potential development opportunities and our studies in machine learning in an easily accessible way.
What it does
Our website should take a Country name and return the predicted GDP in 10 years from 2021-2030 for that country based on factors such as population, literacy rate, mortality rate, export value index.
How we built it
We used Angular for the frontend, Java and Spring boot for the backend, and python with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn.
Challenges we ran into
We found that Jython was a good library but is no longer updated, and didn't work with scikit-learn. We had to move into backup plans to compensate. We also ran into some problems with the frontend with Angular, and started to focus on the visualization in python.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of what we were able to learn and do in 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned more about Angular, applied our knowledge about Java/Spring Boot and machine learning in Python. We also should have focused on developing the overall architecture.
What's next for GDP Predictor
After fixing the frontend and backend, we hope to provide more outputs and visualizations maybe as a side project.
