Inspiration
Most outlying Thai islands rely on diesel-powered generators for electricity, but diesel prices can sometimes be 3 times as high as prices on mainland. Island residents are forced to pay for expensive, unreliable energy. If we collect diesel price data from these outlying islands and provide this data to solar energy companies, we will be able to persuade them to enter this untapped market.
What it does
The application collects data from outlying island residents on the ground and displays that data for solar energy companies in an easy-to-understand and compelling way.
How we built it
The application has two main components: the Line chatbot that directs the users to the online form that collects the data and a website where GIZ and interested companies can browse this data.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of experience with Visualisation libraries (D3.js) and Line Api.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Ship a (mostly) working application.
What we learned
Focus early on in understanding the problem space of the challenge.
What's next for GDN
Eat and sleep!
Implement feedback from the jury and GIZ mentors.
