Inspiration
Our project, “GC2GO,” is based on real-life issues we have all faced: struggling to plan and actually get plans out of the group chat so they happen.
What it does
We have created an easy application that will save all previously sent videos and check everyone’s availability so that it auto-plans everything and just makes sure everyone accepts and is going to attend
How we built it
Video Extraction: Bright Data scrapes the raw video and caption from Instagram Reels or TikTok, while YouTube Shorts are ingested directly via URL.
Venue Identification: Gemini analyzes the visual, audio, and text clues (signs, landmarks, audio transcripts, menus) to detect the exact venue and assign a confidence score.
Grounding via Google Maps: A second Gemini call queries the Google Maps grounding tool to retrieve verified facts—such as precise addresses, business hours, ratings, reviews, and nearby spots.
Itinerary Generation: A final Gemini call combines the verified location data with group constraints (availability, budget, transportation/driver logistics) to generate a timed schedule.
Challenges we ran into
Running out of API Credits, so we had to try to reduce their use. Merge conflicts
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing a runnable product that achieves what we set out to make.
What we learned
Not to rely too much on an API and use mock data before intergrating API's.
What's next for GC2Go
Finishing the product with our full realized visions.
