Inspiration
We were directly inspired by the CBRE Challenge Statement and its focus on the "unprecedented challenges" of the modern workplace: employee burnout, disengagement, and the lack of social connection. We saw that many existing tools solve one of these problems, but few address them holistically.
Our inspiration was to design a single, unified digital experience that reimagines workplace wellbeing by integrating an employee's professional tasks, personal wellness, and social life. We wanted to create a tool that helps employees feel supported as whole individuals, not just as remote workers.
What it does
Our platform is a unified digital dashboard that addresses the core challenges of the hybrid workplace:
Combats Burnout: It features a Daily Shift Tracker and a smart To Do list to help employees manage their workday and feel a sense of accomplishment, which is tracked in a personal Summary dashboard. It also provides a dedicated Wellness Resources section with direct access to tools for mental health, physical health, and stress relief.
Fights Disengagement: To rebuild the casual bonds lost in remote work, we created Water Cooler Conversations—informal chat channels based on interests like music or fitness.
Encourages Connection: The Virtual Events feature allows teams to create and join structured social activities, like a "Morning Coffee Chat" or "Friday Trivia Night," fostering a sense of community.
How we built it
Our process was guided directly by the CBRE challenge objectives. We focused on creating a clean, intuitive, and user-friendly UI that could integrate all these different features without feeling cluttered.
To meet the "Future Technologies" objective, our key innovation is the AR Sessions feature, which uses Extended Reality to create more immersive and personal hybrid meetings. We also explicitly met the User Feedback criterion by building a "Report Issue" system directly into the app, allowing for continuous improvement based on user input.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest design challenge was integrating work, social, and wellness features into one dashboard without it feeling overwhelming. We solved this with a clean, card-based layout and clear navigation to ensure the solution remained user-friendly and accessible.
We also carefully considered the ethical implications of features like a shift tracker. We designed it to be empowering for the employee (to help them manage their time) rather than an intrusive surveillance tool for management. All data is user-centric.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully translating a complex business challenge from CBRE into a tangible, user-centric product. Our greatest accomplishment was designing a single, cohesive platform that balances productivity (task lists), community (chats and events), and personal health (wellness resources). We believe we've created a solution that provides clear business value by focusing first and foremost on the human experience of the end-user.
What we learned
We learned that workplace wellbeing is not a single feature—it's an ecosystem. A truly impactful solution must address an employee's workload, mental health, and sense of community simultaneously. A tool that only solves one piece of the puzzle will not be enough to combat the burnout and disconnection felt in the modern workplace.
What's next for GBRE Employee Wellness Dashboard
We see a clear path forward for this platform. Our next steps would be to:
Expand AI Personalization: Use AI to provide personalized wellness recommendations based on an employee's workload and self-reported stress levels.
Smart Building Integration: Further embrace the "Future Technologies" goal by integrating with smart building sensors to suggest things like taking a break in a low-occupancy "quiet zone" or joining a coffee chat if a colleague is nearby.
Deeper Analytics: Build out the admin-facing side to provide anonymized, high-level reports on team wellbeing and engagement, helping managers identify burnout trends before they become critical.
