Inspiration
We were inspired because we wanted students to have a way to study easily with others.
What it does
GATORUP is a study buddy app for UF students. GATORUP lets you explore wellness resources and create or join study sessions on campus. The goal of the project was to encourage users to take care of their mental health, physical health, emotional health, and to promote community health at UF. GATORUP would create a healthier future for UF.
How we built it
First, we used a google doc to brainstorm ideas based on the theme of a Healthier Future. Once we all agreed on the GATOR UP idea, the way we went collaborating was first through creating a Site Map of which gave us a good foundation on the layout of the app and how each section will flow with one another. Then, we started assigning specific tasks and sections for each of the team members where we had open dialog to give feedback to one another as we worked. We then came together to work on the final prototyping so we could create a video on exactly how the user will interact with the app.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into the challenge of how to use implement prototyping and components in Figma and also how we can import fonts not given in Figma by default.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to create a fully functioning prototype where we were actually able to see the app in action. We are also proud that we now have a better understanding on how to use components and prototypes in Figma.
What we learned
We learned that you can accomplish a lot when you are focused and passionate in something. We learned how to use prototyping and components.
What's next for GatorUp
The next steps for GatorUp is that once we learn how to code through React, that we are able to revisit this project and create a working app.
