Inspiration

GatherPass was inspired by the difficulty attendees and event organizers often face when discovering events, buying tickets, and verifying entry. I wanted to bring the complete experience into one simple platform for events in Ghana and across Africa.

What it does

GatherPass allows attendees to discover events, view dates, venues, prices, and availability, book a pass, and receive a digital QR pass. Organizers can create and manage events, monitor ticket availability, and verify passes at the entrance. A pass that has already been used is rejected to help prevent duplicate entry.

How we built it

I built the responsive web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and deployed it on Vercel. The interface includes event discovery, event details, demo checkout, QR-pass generation, an organizer planner, and a gate-scanner workflow. The project uses Ghanaian cedi pricing and is designed around a mobile-first experience.

The conversational and cloud-service ideas were designed with Amazon and AWS technologies in mind. In this prototype, the cloud integrations are clearly labelled as prototype or planned features rather than being presented as fully connected services.

Challenges we faced

The main challenges were designing one clear flow for both attendees and organizers, keeping ticket availability and planner statistics consistent, and making QR verification reject a pass after it has already been used. Another challenge was creating a useful hackathon prototype while being honest about which cloud integrations are implemented and which remain planned.

What I learned

This project helped me improve my understanding of product design, responsive frontend development, event-ticketing workflows, QR-based verification, deployment with Vercel, and the importance of documenting prototype limitations clearly.
