Inspiration

Gather brings together communities by connecting neighbours. We provide a platform for people to post events, polls, and much more relating to their local community. Our mission is to promote engagement and social cohesion in an age of isolation.

How we built it

We built the app with ExpressJS and MongoDB. The front end was built from scratch, without a framework.

Challenges

None of us had ever built a full-stack web application from scratch before, so our project was very challenging and ambitious.

Working with an antique 2014 MacBook was a considerable challenge for Hubert, since many things don't work very well.

Accomplishments

Although we weren't able to complete the project, we're proud that we were able to build a functional REST API and begin building the front end of the app, with no prior web app experience.

But more importantly, gaming.
