GatePass+

Inspiration

GatePass+ was inspired by the daily struggles faced in hostels, colleges, offices, and campuses where traditional gate passes are slow, manual, and often inaccurate. Long lines, paperwork, and miscommunication create frustration for students, wardens, and security. I wanted to build a system that makes the entire entry/exit process instant, digital, and secure.

What it does

GatePass+ replaces manual gate pass procedures with a fully automated digital system:

-Fast, validated onboarding for Students, Wardens, and Security -Digital gate pass generation -Real-time approval by wardens -QR code for secure entry and exit -Live logs for security guards -Clean dashboard for all roles -Works smoothly with no bugs -Optimized to run using only 1 Base44 credit

How we built it

1)Designed a glassmorphism-based UI using the pink color palette 2)Developed prompts with ChatGPT and used Base 44 3)Used Firebase Authentication for secure login & signup 4)Implemented Firestore for real-time data and logs 5)Used QR code APIs for generation & scanning 6)Ensured strong validation for all inputs 7)Extensively debugged to maintain smooth, crash-free performance

Challenges we ran into

1)Creating a multi-role login system (Student / Warden / Security) 2)Implementing real-time approvals without delay 3)Handling QR code generation + scanning accuracy 4)UI alignment issues while maintaining a glassy aesthetic 5)Ensuring the app remains lightweight enough to use one Base44 credit 6)Fixing data sync bugs in Firestore
