Purpose This mobile app helps elderly or non-tech-savvy users detect scams in text messages and emails, including phishing, impersonation, suspicious links, and requests for personal information.
Privacy First All message analysis happens locally on the device. Messages are not uploaded or stored in the cloud. Users are clearly informed:
“This app scans messages on your device to detect scams. Your messages are not shared unless a threat is detected.”
User Control Scanning is disabled by default and can be turned on or off anytime. Users can choose to scan texts, emails, both, or neither—ensuring the tool feels like protection, not surveillance.
Scam Detection The app analyzes messages for common scam indicators such as urgent language, suspicious links, requests for sensitive information, fake company domains, or spelling errors.
Each message receives a risk score:
Green: Safe
Yellow: Suspicious
Red: Likely scam
Trusted Contact Alerts If a suspicious message is detected, users can notify a trusted contact (family member or caregiver) who receives the flagged message and can help verify it.
Simple Design The interface uses large fonts, clear language, color-coded alerts, and simple navigation for accessibility.
Technology Built using Firebase, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for secure alerts and trusted contact support.
Goal To provide a simple, trustworthy tool that helps elderly users stay safe from online scams while maintaining full control over their privacy.
