🌱 Inspiration
I’ve always loved cozy farming sims and narrative RPGs, so I wanted to create something that combines both inside Meta Horizon Worlds. Gardeners of the Galaxy was inspired by the idea of bringing life back to strange, cosmic environments while also telling stories through character encounters and dialogue.
🌌 What it does
Players explore cosmic worlds, plant mystical seeds, and meet mysterious figures like the Tree Wardener. Through interactive dialogues, they uncover hidden secrets, unlock challenges, and work together to restore life across the galaxy. The world is remixable, so other creators can expand the story and invent their own adventures.
🛠 How I built it
- Meta Horizon Worlds Desktop Editor for world building
- TypeScript v2 APIs for collectibles, dialogue systems, and remix support
- Blender + Substance Painter for custom 3D assets and textures
- Pixabay royalty-free music for immersive audio
⚡ Challenges I ran into
- Optimizing the world for web and mobile players without losing detail
- Building a functional dialogue system that feels engaging
- Making sure the world stays remixable while keeping the core experience intact
🏆 Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Publishing a fully remixable Horizon World
- Creating an interactive narrative RPG experience inside Horizon Worlds
- Designing dialogue-driven gameplay that makes exploration more meaningful
📚 What I learned
- How to design for cross-platform performance (VR, web, mobile)
- Best practices for remixable world building in Horizon Worlds
- That small narrative touches (dialogue, secrets) can massively increase player engagement
🚀 What's next for Gardeners of the Galaxy
- Adding new mini-games and challenges
- Introducing AI-driven NPC characters for deeper interactions
- Expanding the lore of the galaxy through remixable story modules
Built With
- blender
