  Using AI to get a list of vegetables that can be planted in your city in a specific month

Inspiration

As an avid gardener, I created an AI Gardener to plan and manage my vegetable garden. The steps are what I do each time I want to plant something, this planner makes it easier to do all of them in one place, thus saving time and making the process more exciting!

What it does

Assists you in planning a vegetable garden. This includes:

• giving plants that can be planted in your city in the current month
• providing planting guidelines for the plants that you choose to plant
• helping to determine the number of plants that can fit in your garden
• managing your planting and harvesting dates
• giving you a list of nurseries where you can purchase your garden supplies

How I built it

This project was made using Coda along with its AI assistant.

What we learned

I learned how to write formulas in Coda. I also experienced that crafting a prompt takes many iterations to get the AI assistant to do exactly what you want. However, with clear and concise instructions it is incredible what it can do. The AI assistant generally gets actual content correct, such as the list of plants that can be planted this month. But as a gardener, I notice that specific points are incorrect. It would be useful to perhaps link the plant lists with a database or filters that reduce errors.

What's next for Garden Planner

More features can be added such as adding a map to accompany the list of nurseries. Additionally, I'd like to add more linked tasks, such as scheduling fertilising and pruning times for each of the plants.
