Garbage Collector

Inspiration

We are 3 students from Romania. In our community the garbage collector truck comes once or twice per week and sometimes people do not synchronize with the schedule of the truck. So, one of the problems is the truck which spends time and gas (which pollutes the air) because it goes on each street to take the garbage.

What it does

Based on the problems described above, we decided to develop a mobile application for helping the drivers of garbage collector trucks and the people. In this application, the neighbors can schedule a pick up. Based on the selected date and the other schedules made by other people, the driver will receive the short way to collect all the garbage.

How we built it

The Garbage Collector application is developed in React Native. We used Expo to build it on our mobiles. The map displayed in the application is Google maps. We used Firebase as support for backend and database.

There are 2 types of user: the local people and the drivers. The account of the drivers is created by the admin in Firebase. The account of local people is created by registering.

Challenges we ran into

A real big challenge was to use google maps for what we need, but we do our best. We cold not figure out the real time drive for the drivers

We developed beautiful screens.

What we learned

We leant to work as a team. We increased our knowledge using React Native. We leant how to integrate Google maps in our application and some actions we can do on it.
