Garbage Buddy

Inspiration

Waste Disposal is a huge problem that affects climate change directly. It's estimated that around 55 percent of global plastic waste was discarded, 25 percent was incinerated, and only 20 percent was recycled. The wanton disposal of plastic led us to think of this system.

What it does

Now our project aims to inspire and inform people in order to recycle their garbage. Waste Disposal is a huge problem that affects climate change directly. It's estimated that around 55 percent of global plastic waste was discarded, 25 percent was incinerated, and only 20 percent was recycled.

How we built it

We have used the NodeMCU board along with the GPS module (neo 6m), ultrasonic sensor, and MQ135(gas sensor). We have created this by integrating the hardware elements with the software elements to have a better sense of understanding of the data present out there and the required action could be taken as soon as possible...

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out how to assemble the hardware into a small form was one of the most difficult parts. We wanted the hardware to be cost-effective and light-weight. We are most proud of the UI/UX design that animates upon loading, giving the app a modern feel.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a project which helps our environment and community.
Working in unison despite being far away from each other.
Completing this awesome project within a very short amount of time.
We worked continuously on the project to bring it into action and worked as a team throughout the weekend enjoyed it a lot, we have a lot of fun being despite being present at different places.

What we learned

We have learned how to get the location coordinates using the GPS module on the real-time database

What's next for Garbage Buddy

In the future, we might be installing it in each and every bin so that a better track could be maintained and established and continued to recycle the waste.
