GAPS - Genetic Algorithm for Polling Selection

Inspiration

There are so many counties that are being sued for picking bad polling places.

What it does

This algorithm selects the best polling places based on the population.

How I built it

I built it using R and Shiny.

Challenges I ran into

I didn't run into many challenges.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The algorithm helped reduce the average estimated distance by 44%.

What I learned

That technology can be a way to increase transparency in government processes.

What's next for GAPS - Genetic Algorithm for Polling Selection

Make some slight improvements to the algorithm.
