Inspiration

We recognized some problems during the renovation of our student dorm due to issues in communication.

What it does

It provides an easy way of translating, and summarizing information from different media, such as photos, text, and audio files into a single pdf file report.

How we built it

We divided our project into two main parts:

  1. Frontend: We used vue.js, TypeScript, and also the Firebase authentication services.

  2. Backend: Node.js with express.js. The backend also makes use of Microsoft Azure's AI services, and manages a database in Firebase using Firestore.

Challenges we ran into

Learning a new API is not always as easy as one might think. Also we had a hard time connecting all of our different services together.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have build a whole functioning application from the ground up in the span of 48 hours.

What we learned

We learned how to use different software technologies, combine them into a single software stack and organize our workflow around it.

What's next for Gap Buster

We want expand on our application and implement new features, such as:

  • A chatbot, which can answer question concerning the projects.
  • Making the application multilingual.
  • Assign different roles to different users, such as project organizer, employee, etc.
